Tina and Gina Discover Twelve People of Color

 




 

Tina Thomas and her cousin Gina Locke love a particular section of the Public Library. The section is called “Black History.” They have been exploring the lives of people of color who overcame slavery, poverty and many other challenges. The cousins are fascinated because these brave and adventurous characters are all real with amazing strength and outstanding personalities. Their stories are a valuable part of understanding our American History. Tina and Gina put together a collection of twelve biographies to share with you. They arranged them chronologically. The collection features six outstanding females and six outstanding males:

Frederick Douglass 1818-1895 
Harriet Tubman, 1822-1913
Madam C.J. Walker, 1867-1919 
Langston Hughes, 1902-1967
Sarah Rector, 1902-1967
Thurgood Marshall, 1908-1993
Clara Luper, 1923-2011
John Lewis, 1940-2020
Wilma Rudolph, 1940-1994
Former President Barack Obama, 1961 
Kobe Bryant, 1978-2020


Author will be doing a book signing at the Black Planes Museum in Omaha, Nebraska on July 17, 2021 from 1pm to 3pm
